San Alfonso del Mar: World’s Largest Pool
When comes the time to swim, do you dare to swim with the sharks? I’m joking of course, but due to the intense pollution in most beaches swimming is not always allowed. The kinds of pollution in these areas can possibly lead to cancers, birth defects, mental retardation and life expectancies approaching medieval levels. That’s way turning to artificial beaches become more safe and pleasant.
Today we are going to South America. We are not going to watch a horse rodeo, which is the national sport. We’re going to visit the world’s largest pool in the San Alfonso del Mar resort. It’s an artificial beach lagoon which has a 1000 meters long outdoor pool. The resort includes white sand beaches and palm trees around every building. The water is pumped from the ocean, which is then filtered and treated before supplying to the pool. Are you ready to do a splash at the world’s largest pool?
Construction of the world's largest crystal-clear saltwater lagoon has been successfully completed. Upon execution of the last expansion stage, this lagoon –San Alfonso's signature amenity- has reached its final size; over one kilometer in length, 8 hectares in surface area and 2.5 million liters of water. Too big to picture? Let's put it this way, the size of the lagoon is equivalent to 6,000 standard-size 8-meter long swimming pools.
This man-made saltwater lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to the San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile's southern coast

Yet with size being as impressive as it is, the lagoon's highlight is the crystal-clear tropical blue color of its water attained through cutting-edge technology developed by Crystal Lagoons Corp.* that allows to harvest, filter and permanently re-circulate salt water. Yet there's more to it. The lagoon’s water temperature in summer is 26ÂșC, nine degrees warmer than the ocean and certainly a feature all our guests appreciate.

Accordingly, San Alfonso offers this amazing pleasurable experience of the Caribbean ocean on Chile’s seaside.
