Look What Showed Up

Take a look at what shows up at a stock tank in dry weather.

For those of you that have never hunted in South Texas. We post motion detector cameras at our feeders/tanks to see what is going on.

Walmart Sales Coffins

Wal-Mart starts selling coffins
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=12568637

The world's largest retailer wants to keep its customers even after they die.

Wal-Mart has started selling coffins on its Web site at prices that undercut many funeral homes, long the major seller of caskets.

The move follows a similar one by discount rival Costco, which also sells coffins on its site.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8333198.stm :

The world's largest retailer, Wal-Mart, now plans to hold on to customers even after they die - by selling coffins.

Prices range from a "Mom" or "Dad Remembered" steel coffin for $895 (Pound540), to a bronze model at $2,899.

The retailer is allowing customers to plan ahead by paying for the caskets over 12 months for no interest. They can be dispatched within 48 hours.

Catering for cradle-to-grave needs, Wal-Mart already sells everything from baby wear to engagement rings.

A spokesman for the supermarket giant, Ravi Jariwala, said the new coffin range was "a limited beta test to understand customer response".

The retailer is offering caskets at prices that undercut many funeral homes, say correspondents.

But an industry spokesman said it was not unduly concerned about Wal-Mart's move, because he said the firm could not offer bereaved families the human touch.

Pat Lynch, of the National Funeral Home Directors Association, told AP news agency: "There's no question in my mind as a funeral director for nearly 40 years that the most critical element is the human contact."

Pearl Harbour - Invasion of

THESE ARE PHOTOS FOUND IN AN OLD BROWNIE CAMERA

Thought you might find these photos very interesting. What quality from 1941!

These Pearl Harbor photos were found in an old Brownie camera stored in a foot locker.

THESE PHOTOS WERE APPARENTLY TAKEN BY A SAILOR WHO WAS SERVING ON THE USS QUAPAW ATF-11O. THEY'RE SPECTACULAR!

Pearl Harbor: On Sunday, December 7th, 1941 the Japanese launched a surprise attack against the U.S. Forces stationed at Pearl Harbor , Hawaii . By planning his attack on a Sunday, the Japanese commander Admiral Nagumo, hoped to catch the entire fleet in port. As luck would have it, the Aircraft Carriers and one of the Battleships were not in port. (The USS Enterprise was returning from Wake Island, where it had just delivered some aircraft. The USS Lexington was ferrying aircraft to Midway, and the USS Saratoga and USS Colorado were undergoing repairs in the United States.)

had never heard of this before receiving an e-mail.
This is the "TEAR DROP" made and installed by the Russians to honor those who died in 9 11 and a statement against terrorism. It is very impressive. The tear drop is lined up with the Statue of Liberty.

The Unveiling of a New World Monument Remembering the Victims of September 11th and the 1993 World Trade Center Bombings.

A Gift from the People of Russia, Vladimir Putin, President

Time cures everything, but there are things we cannot and must not forget. Standing more than 100 feet tall, “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism” honors victims of 9/11 and the 1993 World Trade Center bombings and serves as a symbol of solidarity in the fight against world terrorism.

Created by Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, the memorial was a gift from the Russian people. Dedicated on September 11, 2006, it stands in direct view of the Statue of Liberty and the former World Trade Center.

Standing at 100 feet tall and weighing 175 tons, the monument was shipped from Russia to the United States in six sections — weighing between 28 and 63 tons each — and assembled by a group of Russian artisans. Russian artist Zurab Tseretelii spent several months in the U.S. overseeing the construction of the memorial.

"MONUMENT TO THE STRUGGLE AGAINST WORLD TERRORISM,"

Names of the persons killed on 9 11 are inscribed on the base.

The base like the Vietnam Memorial wall.

It is down in the shipping yards across from "The Lady".

...it is an impressive memorial and statement against terrorism.

The walkway is made of stones.

“To the Struggle Against World Terrorism,” was conceived as the events of 9/11 unfolded and Russian artist Zurab Tsereteli walked the streets of Moscow.

Struck by the outpouring of grief he observed, a memorial with an image of a tear formed in his mind. Shortly after the attacks, Tsereteli visited ground zero and looked to New Jersey’s waterfront for an appropriate site for a monument honoring victims of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks.

Zurab Tsereteli is one of Russia’s most prominent and prolific artists. A sculptor, designer and architect, he captures significant historical events in large-scale sculptures and monuments on view in museums and public spaces throughout Russia, Europe, Israel, Uruguay and the United States.

Other noted works by the artist include the “Victory” monument at the Moscow War Memorial, “Peter the Great” in downtown Moscow and “Good Defeats Evil” a sculpture created from scrapped American and Soviet missiles on the grounds of the United Nations in New York.

The nickel-plated teardrop contained within the monument weighs four tons and measures approximately 40 feet high.

A gift from Tsereteli and the Russian people, the memorial is made of steel sheathed in bronze.

Standing 100 feet high, its center contains a jagged tear. In it, hangs a 40-foot stainless steel teardrop, representing sadness and grief over the loss of life, but also hope for a future free from terror. Etched in ngranite on an 11-sided base are the names of the nearly 3,000 killed in the 1993 World Trade Center bombings and terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
