Obama's D.C. Hotel

Because the Blair House, the government guest house across the street from the White House that normally houses the incoming President, is not available, Barack Obama and his family will be moving into...

The Hay-Adams Hotel, where they will stay until after the inaugaration.

Although it isn't traditional for the president-elect to make the move to D.C. so early, but Obama is looking to get his daughters into their new school at the beginning of the semester.

The Hay-Adams Hotel is located in Lafayette Square, just across from the White House.

This classic hotel is named after the distinguished residents who previously lived on its site: John Hay, Private Assistant to President Abraham Lincoln and later Secretary of State...

... and Henry Adams, an acclaimed author and descendant of U.S. Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams.

It also provides a wonderful view of Washington, D.C.

The Hay-Adams offers 145 guestrooms, including 20 suites.

The Hay-Adams has a long-standing reputation as a destination for power dining among Washington's elite, as well as a favorite gathering place for visitors, friends and colleagues.

The site where The Hay-Adams is now located has long been a favorite gathering place in the nation's capital.
